My Job for Maker Faire

The job that I would like to have for Maker Faire is making the level design for the map. A level designer makes the maps, levels, or stages for video games. They usually a level editor or a game development software. I want to do this job since I find it fun making levels or maps for games. There so many different ways you can make maps, there can be easy maps for beginners and there can be secret maps that you have to find for expert gamers.

7.1 Blog Post

Size dimensions give the width, length, and depth of an object, while location dimensions tells where edges appear on an object.

Chain dimensioning is where the length of one side is determined from one point connected to another, then the other point connecting to a different one, and so on. Datum dimensioning is where all measures are determined from one point on the object. Datum dimensioning is most likely the more common practice of dimensioning since there is only one point to base the data off of, so it will be more accurate.

A dimensioned drawing gives a kind of a physical representation of the object desired, while a written description may give exact details of lengths of parts or shapes on all sides of the item, but it is only an idea. They are similar since they describe the same object, and both explains it with detail regarding the object desired. Both communicate the shapes and design wanted.

Jessica Pauley Interview Reflection Post

Interview Post

Today we had an interview with Ms. Pauley who happens to work at SpaceX where they design, manufacture and launch advanced rockets and spacecrafts. The company was founded in 2002 to revolutionize space technology, with the ultimate goal of enabling people to live on other planets. Ms. Pauley first began her career in engineering in Oregon where she originally met Ms. Leppla.

She discussed with us of how her work schedule is, work life, and how it affects her personally. She also told us that they need to have many trials in order to actually launch the rocket and they are trying to launch rockets that can safely re-enter the atmosphere.

Maker Faire

A great genre of games to choose from would be RPG and especially the game Pokemon. Pokemon is a game where a trainer at age 10 sets off on a journey to become the champion of his/her region. The game was developed by Game Freak under Nintendo.

Reverse Engineering Reflection

•  Visual design principles can help the product look appealing to the buyers. The car we were working with were bright, kid friendly, and smooth so they would look appealing to all type of ages. If the product contained sharp edges it wouldn't look so appealing as smooth edges.

• The "black box" portion of the system contains formulas and calculations that the user does not see nor need to know to use the system. Black box systems are often used to determine optimal trading practices. These systems generate many different types of data including buy and sell signals.

•  Artists/engineers do reverse engineering to discover how a product might work and this might allow them to repair the product if damaged.

•  The sports car design is very cool, and they should make more of those.  If I could change the design, I would use lighter materials and would make the car lighter. I also would change the design to improve the aerodynamics.
